Rural Trails Introduces Our Authentic Thai Cultural Experiences

The world of travel is changing and Thailand is no exception. As the second most popular destination in the world, visitors to Thailand still flock to the major sites: The Grand Palace, Wat Po, floating markets, beaches and ancient Buddhist archeological sites. But increasingly, tourists seek more meaningful experiences when they travel. Time and again, they tell us they want to make a real connection, to have an authentic experience with locals and learn about their way of life.

We listened. And then we spent the last year working with tribal elders from local villages in northern Thailand to create unique tours where our guests can experience true Thai customs, culture, and traditions.

We launched our new website a few weeks ago with three such specially designed tours. Our Chiang Dao Valley Tour provides guests the opportunity to immerse in the daily life of a tea producing village.

Guests on our Mae U Su Service and Adventure Tour stay in the homes of an authentic (not tourist) Karen village and participate in daily activities that center around traditional weaving and agriculture.

Finally, our third immersion tour in the village of Ban Nam Jum provides for an intense immersion into Thai culture, with activities that range from Muay Thai boxing to plowing a field behind a buffalo.

We have worked diligently with local representatives to create these unparalleled cultural experiences for our guests. Our itineraries reflect what representatives of the villages told us they would like to share, rather than what we think they should showcase. Likewise, the profits from these tours are shared with the villages, in each case providing funds for projects they designate.

Although Rural Trails is a new company, we bring 10 years of experience in authentic, sustainable travel to the table. We are passionate about providing our guests with an unforgettable experience and memories that will last a lifetime. We hope you will join us during your next (or first) trip to Thailand, either for one of our three existing tours, or for a tour that is custom designed for you.
